Ethernet connectors history.

                   Ethernet connectors history.

Ethernet was developed in 1973 by Bob Metcalfe at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Xerox Palo Alto Research Center and supported by thick copper coaxial-type cables. The first version, 10BASE5, featured extremely stiff cable nearly a half-inch in diameter, and was later joined by 10BASE2, using cable about half as thick and much more flexible.

Ethernet connectors are used to establish a wired connection between devices in a Local Area Network (LAN). Here is some information about Ethernet connectors:

  1. 1.RJ45 Connector:

    • Description: The most common type of Ethernet connector is the Registered Jack 45 (RJ45). It looks similar to a standard telephone connector (RJ11), but it is larger in size.
    • Usage: RJ45 connectors are used for Ethernet networking in homes and offices. They are widely used for both Ethernet cables and modular connectors.
  2. 2.Ethernet Cables:

    • Types: There are different types of Ethernet cables, such as Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Cat7, each with varying data transfer capabilities.
    • Wiring Standards: Ethernet cables use two wiring standards: T568A and T568B. It's important to ensure that both ends of a cable use the same standard for proper connectivity.
  3. 3.Crimping:

    • Process: Ethernet cables are often created by attaching connectors to the ends of the cables through a process called crimping. This involves placing the individual wires in the correct order and securing them within the connector.
  4. 4.Color Coding:

    • TIA/EIA Standards: The TIA/EIA-568 standards define the color-coding schemes for the wires inside Ethernet cables. This ensures consistency and compatibility between different network installations.
  5. 5.Shielded vs. Unshielded:

    • Shielded (STP): Some Ethernet cables have shielding to protect against electromagnetic interference (EMI). These are known as Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cables.
    • Unshielded (UTP): Most common Ethernet cables are Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), which is suitable for many applications.
  6. 6.Ethernet Ports:

    • Integrated Ports: Many devices, such as computers and routers, have integrated Ethernet ports where an Ethernet cable can be directly connected.
    • Adapters: In some cases, adapters or dongles may be used to convert other port types (e.g., USB or Thunderbolt) to Ethernet.
  7. 7.Connector Compatibility:

    • Backward Compatibility: Newer Ethernet standards are usually backward compatible with older standards. For example, a device with a Gigabit Ethernet port can generally work with a Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) or Ethernet (10 Mbps) connection.
  8. 8Power over Ethernet (PoE):

    • Capability: Some Ethernet connectors support Power over Ethernet, allowing devices like IP cameras and VoIP phones to receive power and data over the same Ethernet cable.

It's important to note that while RJ45 is the most common connector for Ethernet, there are other connectors used in specific contexts, such as the smaller RJ-11 connector for telephone lines or the larger RJ-48 used in T1 lines.

Motorola Dyna TAC first cell phone Information.

Motorola Dyna TAC first cell phone Information.

The Motorola Dyna TAC, which stands for Dynamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage, was the first commercially available handheld mobile phone. It was launched on April 3, 1973, by Motorola. The Dyna TAC 8000X, as it was officially called, was a large and heavy device by today's standards, weighing around 2.2 pounds (1 kg). It was commonly known as the "brick phone" due to its size and shape.

Some Key Features of the Motorola Dyna TAC:-

  1. 1) Release Date: April 3, 1973.
  2. 2) Weight: Approximately 2.2 pounds (1 kg).
  3. 3) Battery Life: Provided about 30 minutes of talk time and took 10 hours to recharge.
  4. 4)Form Factor: Handheld, but relatively large compared to modern mobile phones.
  5. 5)Network Compatibility: 1G (First Generation) analog cellular network.

The Dyna TAC 8000X was a groundbreaking device as it marked the beginning of widespread mobile phone use. However, it was not available to the general public immediately; early models were primarily used by business and government professionals due to their high cost.

                                                          Handheld mobile phone

Motorola was the first company to produce a handheld mobile phone. On 3 April 1973,Martin CooperMotorola researcher and executive, made the first mobile telephone call from handheld subscriber equipment, placing a call to Dr. Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs, his rival.

Motorola engineer Martin Cooper never imagined that his project would become one of the most important technological inventions in history.

He was the first person to make a call with a mobile phone. For years, the engineer researched and developed innovations that were unique in the world. On 17 October 1973, he succeeded in creating the so-called Radio Telephone System, the popular telephone system.

Thanks to this telephone system, Cooper was able to make the first ever mobile phone call with the Dyna TAC 8000X mobile phone. This first communication originated on a street in New York, and was addressed to Joel Engel, his greatest technological opponent, an electronics engineer at AT&T.

What did the Dyna TAC 8000X look like?

This first model weighed 1.1 kg and measured 33 x 4.5 x 8.9, quite thick compared to today’s phones. The first mobile phone only offered 30 minutes of talk time and needed 10 hours of charging to work properly. The company launched it on 13 March 1983, for a hefty price of USD 3,995.

As we come to the end of this journey through [Motorola Dyna TAC first cell phone Information], I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you for joining me on this exploration. Your time and attention are truly appreciated.
